Treating Curly Hair:

Do you have a mass of curls – frizzy hair that is dry and brittle? If so, then you can try a host of home remedies to treat curly hair and make those curls more manageable.

  • If your hair is dry and frizzy, then it needs more moisture. The first thing to do is to drink a lot of water and keep your body hydrated.
  • Cook your food with olive oil as it is believed to improve the quality of hair and skin.
  • Use the ubiquitous egg to condition your hair. Break one on your head and massage the runny yellow yolk into your scalp and hair with luxurious strokes. Keep it on for sometime before rinsing and then shampooing.
  • Another way to improve the hair quality is to moisten it with tepid water and then massage the hair with coconut or sesame oil. Then wrap the hair in a plastic cap, and then swathe with a warm towel. After an hour, slather on a pack made with Fuller’s earth. After sometime, rinse off the earth with tepid water. Then use a herbal shampoo to wash your hair.
  • For frizzy hair treatment, you can massage your hair and scalp with olive oil and steam your hair. To steam your hair, dip a towel in warm water, wring it out and wrap it around your head. Wash your hair with a shampoo the next day.
  • You can make a pack for your hair with soap nut powder. This is known to make hair shiny and soft.
  • You might also like to massage your hair with a combination of the following oils – Rosemary, Lavender, Clover Blossom, Peanut oil, and Burdock Root.
  • You can also massage your hair with a combination of jojoba oil and emu oil.
  • You must also focus on what you eat as a healthy diet can prevent your curls from becoming frizzy and dry. Eat a balanced diet rich in all the important nutrients. Make sure that your meals have vitamin and minerals, and protein. Include a lot of green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, legumes, beans, nuts, lean meats, and whole grains. Fish is rich in Omega 3 and essential fatty acids, and is good for hair and skin.
  • Use a hair brush or a wide-toothed comb to comb your hair.
  • Keep your hair squeaky clean, so that you do not have unwanted knots in the hair, which become difficult to disentangle and can cause hair fall while combing.
