Stages Of Alzheimer’s Disease

The development of Alzheimer’s disease takes place very slowly, and gradually it inhibits the proper functioning of the brain. This disease can be compartmentalized into mild, moderate, and severe stages. During the mild phase of Alzheimer’s condition, people tend to suffer from lack of concentration and cannot complete the tasks assigned to them. Forgetting names of people is a common scenario during this tenure.
Aluminum based food products such as cookies, baking powder, and pickles should be avoided at this stage. Cayenne pepper can enhance the waning memory as it increases the flow of blood to the brain.

Foods which are rich in vitamin E resources must be consumed regularly to curb the degenerative effect of the disease. When a person starts to forget names, he should carry a notebook with him, so that he can write the names and then call the people by their name. This exercise is considered as one of the best home remedies for Alzheimer.

The moderate stage of Alzheimer’s disease causes deterioration in the organizing skills of the patient. It becomes extremely difficult to follow any set of instructions. Identification of family members cannot be done properly during this phase. Patients often tend to get confused about the type of relationship that he shares with the other person.

Adequate amount of sleep is required by the patient so that the levels of hormones in the body can be stabilized, which will help to strengthen the memory. Patients find it hard to communicate their feelings and they become paranoid by presuming that everybody wants to harm them. Bouts of depressions are a common phenomenon during this stage.

The consumption of sage tea can help people suffering from alzheimer’s to ward of depression. The diet given to them at this stage should contain very less salt, as too much of salt can cause hypertension, which will further agitate their condition. Regular physical exercise is also an important part of home remedies for Alzheimer.

The severe stage of the Alzheimer’s disease is very crucial for both the affected person and his (or her) family. In this phase, the patient needs to be supported to perform basic activities like walking, sitting, and eating. Most of the time, patients refuse to have their meals. This problem can be curbed by the consumption of ginger as it increases appetite and induces thirst. Chewing and swallowing becomes a problem at this stage, so foods that do not need much chewing and can be easily swallowed should be administered.

Global Amnesia

A patient with global amnesia suffers from complete memory loss and it is generally attributed to the occurrence of some disturbing events in his or her life. This type of condition is regarded as a very rare type of amnesia. With the help of certain home remedies the nervous system can be improved which will eventually result in curing the patients suffering from global amnesia.

Rosemary is considered as one of the best ingredients in home remedies for global amnesia. Forgetfulness can be treated by drinking a tea consisting of the rosemary herb, twice a day. Preparing this tea is very simple. A couple of teaspoons of the herb should be added to a cup of water and then it should be boiled for a few minutes. After draining the tea leaves, 1 teaspoon of lime can be added to it and the herbal tea is ready for your consumption.

Patients suffering from global amnesia are advised to consume food products like cereal, milk, and grapes which contain phosphorus, as it is considered beneficial for the body during this crucial phase.
Patients suffering from global amnesia can utilize devices like a personal digital assistant (which is also known as the PDA) so that they can smoothly complete their daily activities. A PDA can help a person to keep track of all the important events. The patient can also use a notebook to scribble down information which needs to be remembered. Memory can also be enhanced by practicing meditation and yoga regularly.

Basil is another ingredient which is used as a home cure for global amnesia. Basil is popular due to its medicinal properties which help in curing common cold, but the it can also be used enhance memory and calm the mind. Just take some leaves of basil and consume them after they are washed properly.

People have been using walnut to boost the memory. Walnuts should be consumed daily along with raisins to counter global amnesia as it can improve the functioning of the brain. Global amnesia robs a person’s ability to concentrate. This shortcoming can be overcome by consuming tea prepared with sage leaves as it enhances the capacity of the mind to concentrate.

A mixture of black pepper and honey is also good for memory. The consumption of fruits like apples, figs, and oranges can trigger the functioning of brain cells and hence, these fruits should be included in a regular diet for global amnesia. Of late, biofeedback is also being used by patients to tackle the hurdles posed by global amnesia.

Alzheimer Treatment

Alzheimer’s disease impairs the functioning of the brain, which directly has an adverse affect on both the physical and mental ability of a person. Although the existence of this disease cannot be banished completely, with the aid of some home remedies, the progress of this condition can be slackened and the symptoms can be cured.

To activate the functioning of the brain, pumpkin seeds can be consumed as snacks. These seeds are replete with fatty acids which help the brain to function properly. Bottled water should be consumed instead of the tap water, as the former contains traces of aluminum, which are in a way responsible for causing this disease. To retain the memory of the patient, it is necessary to have a healthy nervous system and this can be attained by having foods like carrots, bell peppers, and eggs which have vitamin A in them.

To provide adequate protection to the nerves of the brain, juices of citrus fruits should be taken so that the antioxidants present in it can protect the nerves. Fish should be included in the diet as it constitutes fatty acids which help the brain to function efficiently. However, fish like swordfish should be avoided as they contain mercury, which is harmful for the body.

The cognitive ability of a person is severely affected during this disease. Green vegetables containing folic acid can be consumed to rouse the cognitive function. To regain a normal sleeping pattern, one should get exposure to sunlight. A valid relation between sunlight and sleep has been established in a recent study. The rate of deterioration of the cognitive ability can be slowed down by having blueberries as it possesses antioxidants.

Mental exercise can help a person to improve his (or her) memory. Solving a puzzle in the newspaper should be included in the list of daily activities so that the brain cells remain stimulated. Reading a book is also considered a part of the rehabilitation process as it can inhibit damage to cognitive ability. Regular physical exercise is recommended by doctors, so that sufficient amount of blood flows through the brain. Regular practice of meditation can help the body to get relief from stress which can improve the efficiency of the brain.
Patients can get easily agitated during this condition so they need to stay in a calm environment where they can relax properly. The intake of caffeine should be prohibited as it causes agitation. Home remedies can improve the life of the patient to a large extent.

ADHD Natural Remedies

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a disorder that affects young children, usually below the age of seven. There are significant numbers of children (about 3-5% of the children globally) who are affected by ADHD symptoms. A typical child with ADHD will show hyperactivity, inattentiveness, and impulsive behavior. These behaviors in turn may affect their performance at school, make them feel alienated, lower their self-esteem, and cause difficulties in building normal relationships. All children with ADHD need to be treated properly under the supervision of a medical counselor. The procedure for ADHD treatment is long and slow, and requires a lot of patience and perseverance on the part of the child’s family. With proper medications and counseling sessions, ADHD can be remedied fully in childhood. However, in some cases, if the treatment is not carried out properly, ADHD symptoms may persist well into adulthood.

The symptoms associated with ADHD can be varied; however, there are two broad areas into which these symptoms can be classified – ‘inattentiveness’ and ‘hyperactivity’. The common symptoms classified under ‘inattentiveness’ may be one or more of the following:

• Difficulty in paying attention in class
• Difficulty in organizing tasks
• Frequently losing belongings (like pencils, toys, books)
• Frequently making careless mistakes in doing homework
• General lack of interest in all activities
• Getting distracted easily and frequently
• Becoming increasingly forgetful about things

The common symptoms classified under ‘hyperactivity’ may be one or more of the following:

• General restlessness
• Fidgety movement
• Difficulty in waiting for his/her turn
• Excessive talking
• Interrupting other people
• Running or climbing excessively
• Trouble keeping quiet

These symptoms, however, may not be conclusive enough in identifying a child with ADHD. Most children will show one or more of these behaviors at some point or the other, and it is quite difficult to say whether a child suffers from ADHD just by looking at a few odd behavioral patterns. What matters more is how long and how persistently the child displays such behavior. A normal child will usually show different types of behavior with different people and at different times, but a child with ADHD is more likely to show these behaviors consistently. If you have seen a child showing one or more of these behaviors consistently for about six months, it is advisable to get him/her evaluated by a doctor at the earliest.

The exact cause of ADHD may be difficult to pinpoint – it is usually a combination of heredity and environmental factors. Exposure to alcohol, nicotine, certain medications or toxins during pregnancy may also have an effect. There are no effective home remedies that can cure ADHD. Medical help must be sought to treat ADHD in a proper manner. However, a proper diet, exercise routine, and support from the family may help. Feed the child a nutritious diet of fruits, vegetables, cereals, nuts, and dairy products. Avoid junk food, caffeinated drinks, and processed foods as far as possible. Also, feed the child plenty of foods containing omega-3 fatty acids (mostly available in fish) as it is known be beneficial in treating ADHD. Finally, it is the care and support of the family that counts the most. Be sure to understand the child’s behavior and pay attention to his/her needs with love and affection, while continuing with the medical treatment.
