Natural Treatment for Age Spot:

Age spots also commonly referred to as sunspots, is a very common and harmless skin condition. These tiny spots often tend to look very similar to freckles and take the appearance of gray, black or brown marks on the skin. They can appear individually or in a cluster and are usually formed due to prolonged sun exposure. They are generally found on the parts of the body that are more exposed to harsh sun rays, such as the face, hands, neck, arms and shoulders, but may occur elsewhere as well. Age spots are formed due to an accumulation of the skins pigment known as melanin, on the uppermost layer of the skin or the epidermis. These tiny spots are usually more common among individuals over the age of 40; however they may also be seen among younger people, depending upon the extent and length of sun exposure.

Although one may not be able to get rid of age spot totally, their appearance can be reduced to a considerable extent with the help of some home remedies. Potato juice is considered to be an effective remedy to help reduce the appearance of age spots. Grate a potato and then squeeze out the juice. Apply a thin layer of the juice on the affected area and let it dry naturally for 10-15 minutes. Once dry, rinse the application off with lukewarm water. As an alternative you could also place two or three, thin potato slices, on the affected area for a few minutes. Similarly you could use tomato juice as well. Apply a thin layer of tomato juice on the affected area and let it dry for 15 minutes, after which rinse it off with lukewarm water.

Aloe vera gel can also be used to lighten age spots. Take a small piece of an aloe vera leaf an slice it into two. Now scoop the gel out and apply a thin film on the affected area at bed time and rinse it off the next morning. A few drops of Vitamin E oil mixed with aloe vera gel can also be applied on to the spots once a day, to reduce their appearance. Lemon juice is considered to be a natural lightening agent. Apply freshly squeezed lemon juice onto the spots 1-2 times a day. Wash the application off with lukewarm water, after it has stayed on the skin for about 10-15 minutes. This remedy should be performed regularly till you notice visible results.

Diet to Cure and Prevent Wrinkles:

As we age the appearance of fine lines and creases, particularly on the face, is inevitable. These fine lines or wrinkles mostly appear on areas of the body that are exposed to the sun for long. This would include the face, neck, hands etc. Wrinkles are formed due to the fact that the skin tends to lose its elasticity and moisture as we age. Other factors that can also contribute to a loss of skin elasticity are smoking, dietary habits, alcohol, pollution, drug use, stress and a loss of vitamin E. Wrinkles tend to make the skin look thin, drawn and stretched. A person’s diet can play a crucial role in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and thus can’t be undermined. This is because a well balanced diet, which is rich in nutrients, is beneficial for the overall health of the skin as well as for the body. Skin that is healthy will obviously be in a better position to reduce the signs of ageing.

Eat more vegetables. Antioxidants are present in vegetables that help in combating a large number of health problems. These anti oxidants enter the blood stream and help in cleansing your cells of any toxins. When this happens the skin looks well cared for, moisturized and healthy. Antioxidants are in fact the most significant factors when it comes to the reduction of wrinkles. Asparagus, spinach, celery, eggplant, garlic, onions and leeks are some of the vegetables that are good for you. Some of the foods that you can incorporate as a part of your diet are fish, eggs, legumes and nuts, whole grain cereal, olives and olive oil and food that has zinc such as lean meat, seafood and milk.

Fruits (fruit products included) are also helpful in reducing wrinkles appearance since they contain anti oxidants as well. Monounsaturated fats that are found in canola oil, olive oil, hazelnuts, almonds etc, are good for the skin. These fats are thought to provide protection against wrinkling, as they assist the skin in resisting the activity of damage causing free radicals. Milk has also been found to contain compounds that promote the repair and regeneration of skin cells. But try and stick to low fat milk products. Try and avoid fizzy drinks, butter, margarine, caffeine and cakes. Increase your intake of water as it will keep your skin hydrated at all times, providing it with all the moisture that it needs.

Diet to Prevent and Cure Acne:

Acne is a common problem that is faced by teenagers and adults. This is a condition that is caused due to a blockage of the hair follicles. Acne can, very often, make one feel unattractive and self-conscious. The acne pustules can at times be painful, this is mainly because the pores get clogged or blocked with sebum (an oil that is produced by our skin) and accumulated bacteria. It mostly occurs on the back, neck, face, shoulders and chest. Although it does not pose a significant health hazard, it can leave behind scars and cause emotional distress. This condition of the skin cannot be cured completely unfortunately, but the symptoms can definitely be treated and mitigated.

Eat a nutritious diet that is both healthy and well balanced. Even though foods such as greasy fries and chocolates may not be a cause for acne breakouts, they are certainly not the best option for a healthy diet. Ensuring that the body is getting its supply of nutrients, will help in healing acne breakout while at the same time keeping a host of other ailments at bay. Include different types of vegetables, fruits, seeds and nuts in your diet. One simple way of doing this is to make your own juices and smoothies from ripe fruits. A healthy diet invariably equates to healthy skin. Salads are good for you too, so try and have a minimum of one salad a day, even if it is in the form of a side dish. Make it a habit to snack on dried fruits and nuts. Pumpkin seeds and Brazil nuts work brilliantly on acne as they are known to possess selenium and zinc. A deficiency in these particular minerals has often been linked with acne.

Include food that is rich in vitamin E and vitamin C. These are anti oxidants that will help rejuvenate your skin. Some of the sources of vitamin E include spinach, avocado, wheat germ, carrot juice, turnips, fortified cereals, almonds, sunflower seeds, tomato puree, olive oil and peanuts. Vitamin C can be found in cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, papaya, lemon juice, oranges, strawberries, bell peppers, broccoli, parsley and mustard greens. Drinking plenty of water is an important aspect of skin care. This will restore moisture and hydrate the skin. Skin that has lost moisture is unable to shed the dead skin cells effectively; this can further lead to the blockage of pores and an acne breakout.
