Home Remedies and Prevention Tips for Neck Wrinkles

Posted in Category : Natural Cures

Wrinkles around the neck are a natural part of ageing. As we grow older the skin loses its elasticity and becomes thinner and drier, making it more susceptible to damage. The area around the neck is more vulnerable because it is naturally thinner and tends to shed fat easily. Fatty matter under the skin generally acts as a support to the skin; therefore, in the absence of fats under the skin wrinkles start to appear more rapidly.

Generally, with growing age, wrinkles will start appearing – it’s a natural occurrence. However, sometimes, the wrinkles may also appear prematurely due to certain extraneous factors. For example, too much exposure to the sun’s rays, smoking, pollution, poor lifestyle and diet may increase the chances of wrinkles significantly. Genetics do play a role as well – the age at which wrinkles start appearing depends, to a large extent, on heredity.

There are several medical and surgical procedures available for removing wrinkles. You will need to consult with a doctor before proceeding with any of these. However, it is important to understand that wrinkles cannot be avoided altogether. Moreover, the surgical procedures and medications may need to be repeated regularly and can also produce some side effects. Consult a dermatologist to understand the pros and cons of these methods in detail.

However, there are some home remedies you can try out as wrinkle remedies.

  • Make a paste by mixing turmeric powder with sugarcane juice. Apply this paste on the wrinkles and let it dry before washing off with water.
  • Rub slices of freshly cut cucumber on the wrinkled skin. You can also apply the pulp of papaya on the wrinkles.
  • Moisturize your skin appropriately so that the skin does not become dry. Use moisturizing creams, lotions, or oils on a daily basis. To avoid dry skin, you should also drink adequate amount of water throughout the day.

Besides the remedies, you should also take certain preventive steps to control the appearance of wrinkles.

  • Do eat nutritious food including a lot of green vegetables and fresh fruits. Also, drink plenty of water in a day to keep your skin hydrated.
  • Avoid smoking altogether because smoking can cause much damage to the skin cells.

Protect your skin from pollution and UV rays of the sun. Wear protective cloth when you are going out in direct sunlight. Also, use a sunscreen lotion with appropriate sun protection factor (SPF).
