Fungal Yeast Infection in Men

by Shaun Damon
Yeast infections, most of the times have symptoms that are quite non gender specific. That is to say, they will not affect men differently from women. The commonest symptoms of a yeast infection are an extremely powerful burning sensation in the urinary tract.

This will be exacerbated when the affected person goes to urinate and it is also likely that the urge to urinate will be really strong and there will be very little urine coming out. And whatever little comes out will also cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Do not be alarmed if you experience pain the abdomen as well.

This too can be a symptom of a severe infection that is in place. Apart from this, you may also develop a fever, which is not an unusual experience. Sometimes, you may also experience cold shivers. Apart from this, there may also be symptoms such as extreme itching in the pubic area. This would naturally depend upon the exact nature of your infection, as some types of bacterial infections may not lead to any itching. Some people who have an exaggerated problem may also experience red rashes which can be painful and sometimes maybe even bleed a little. A more accurate diagnosis can only be provided by a doctor; so if possible, you should be seeing a doctor as soon as you possibly can. This is particularly important if your case is a chronic one, which means more than a month old and recurrent in nature.

At home, the best possible cure for taking care of a yeast infection is to drink a lot of cranberry juice. This contains certain chemicals that help a lot in taking care of basic bacterial infections and is helpful in assisting smooth functioning of the kidneys as well. For temporary relief, an ice pack may be applied to the area. This will help with providing relief, but only momentarily. It would also be a good idea to apply fresh curds to the area in order to clear up any infection that is merely on the surface. But it is important to note that if your infection has progressed beyond a point, it is extremely important to get adequate and powerful medication to wipe it out. If it is left to linger, there is a strong possibility that it may get worse and start traveling backwards into the urinary tract. It may also affect your sex partner, so it is better to avoid intercourse for some time.
