Treatment For Lymphoma

Posted in Category : Common Ailments

Lymphoma is a collective term for cancers of the lymphatic system, comprising mainly of the spleen, the lymph nodes and the lymphatic vessels. Lymphoma is broadly divided into two categories known as Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. If detected early, Hodgkin’s lymphoma can be treated with a high success rate. Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma however is not so easily curable and needs extensive medical treatment. Lymphoma is believed to be hereditary, though its exact cause is unknown. You should keep in mind that lymphoma is a serious condition and needs to be detected as early as possible. The symptoms usually begin with a swelling of the lymph nodes. This swelling will be painless though you might experience some chest pain. There will also be intermittent fevers and chills and a constant itching all over the body. In addition you will experience some difficulty in breathing along with severe cough.

Medical supervision is a must once you detect symptoms of lymphoma. It needs to be ascertained first how serious the affliction is and should be treated accordingly. Medical treatment should be followed as per the doctor’s advice. This will include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery or biological therapy. All the above treatment methods would essentially help in boosting your body’s immunity by injecting external agents, depending on the severity of the disease. Though home remedies too can cure the disease if detected early, these should be considered secondary to medical treatment in case of lymphoma. The best thing you can do to aid the treatment is to go for a detoxification of the body. Drink a lot of fruit juices and water. Strictly avoid caffeine and alcohol. There are a lot of foods too that aid in detoxification such as beets, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms etc. Also stay away from saturated fats, sugars and refined foods. Some people also advise the intake of some supplements like coenzyme 10 and selenium; however medical supervision is advised before one starts the dosage.

Organic fruit and vegetable juices are excellent detoxifiers too. Use fruits and vegetables like apples, pears, lettuce and parsley in combinations and drink at least two servings a day. This will aid in a quick cleansing of the system, greatly helping your fight against lymphoma. The use of certain Chinese herbs like ginseng and codonopsis is advised. These herbs are believed to fortify the body’s immunity thus alleviating lymphoma. Acupuncture and acupressure has also been tried with relative success in treating lymphoma, since they are effective in draining toxic lymph nodes and clearing the toxins.
