Herbal Remedies For Arthritis Pain Relief

Arthritis means conditions which involve pain in the joints of the body. The pain can be mild to chronic. It is a leading cause of disability among older people. Arthritis causes swollen joints and lack of treatment on time can cause permanent deformation. The treatments for arthritis pain relief vary according to the type of arthritis. Apart from the regular allopathic treatments, there are various alternative remedies available for arthritis pain relief. One can prefer to use simple herbal remedies given in the ayurveda.

Some of the herbal remedies recommended for the treatment of this condition are; Crush three to four cloves of garlic in diluted milk. Boil the mixture till it is one-fourth of the original portion and drink the cooled milk in the night before bed. Have two to three tablespoons of castor oil every day helps flush out the toxins in the joints area. Also, having ginger tea in the morning keeps the digestion system clear thus resulting in reducing the intensity of the joint pain.

Have two tablespoons of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey in warm water twice a day, it can definitely help in reducing the intensity of joint pains. Fast for a day or go on a liquid diet except milk or milk products or only banana diet such as having eight to nine bananas for three to four days can help a lot. Liquids helps to remove toxins from one’s body and brings down the intensity of joint pains and bananas give calcium, phosphorus and potassium which are important minerals for the bones and can definitely help in arthritis pain relief.

Have warm water with some turmeric powder mixed in it. Every morning before brushing eat two cloves of garlic. Having garlic every day can keep heart attacks away. Drink the juice of a raw potato every morning; have a bowl of soup consisting equal portions of leafy green vegetables, celery, beets and carrots. It gives all the essential minerals necessary for the joints of the body.

Massage the joints with warm coconut oil mixed with camphor. It eases the joint pains. Apply a paste of sandalwood on the affected joints. It gives great relief in the intensity of the pains as it is a cool herb.

Apart from the above herbal remedies, there are other herbs used in the treatment of arthritis such as guggul. It is taken in combined forms such as Mahayogaraja Guggul or Yogaraja Guggul. These combinations contain several other minerals and herbs and when used in arthritic pain can provide a great relief. Also the most common herb is the Triphala Guggulu. For acute and chronic arthritis, Simhanada guggulu is generally prescribed and if the arthritis has reached to the spinal column of the body then Brihadvata Chinatamani is used.
