Natural Face Scrub

Usually when people talk about the best beauty regimen, they mention cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. What they forget is scrubbing, which is perhaps as important, if not more, than cleansing, toning, and moisturizing.

Your skin keeps growing old and the dead skin cells keep accumulating. Unless you remove these dead cells, the fresh skin won’t be visible. Natural facial scrubs help gently remove the dead skin cells to expose the younger, smoother skin underneath. By using a facial scrub, you can get rid of the excess sebum that clogs your pores along with whiteheads and blackheads. It also helps prevent acne.

It is best to use a home made facial scrub to brighten your skin and make your face look naturally younger. There are various ingredients around your home that can be used to make an exfoliating face scrub that soothes your skin. You can even make your own natural body scrub to make the skin of your entire body smooth and supple.

Following are some of the best homemade facial scrubs:

• Mix together one part of honey with two parts of almond paste. Add to this the juice of a lemon. Mix all the ingredients well and apply on the face. Let it dry for about five to seven minutes and then start to rub the paste gently in circles. Rub very gently all over your face and neck. Keep rubbing for about 7-10 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water.

• Mix together three parts of almond paste with three parts of oatmeal, powdered rose petals and milk powder. Add to this, two spoons of almond oil and mix to a pasty consistency. You can use this once a week. However, do not use this if you have oily skin and an acne problem. This natural facial scrub can be stored in a cool place.

• For oily skin, use four parts of chickpea powder and add to it a pinch of turmeric powder, a couple of drops of rose water, and milk. Do not use milk with cream. Use either skimmed milk or ‘slim’ milk. This scrub can be used all over your body as a natural body scrub.

• You can even use wheat husk or broken wheat mixed with honey and milk. Make this into a thick paste and use as a face or body scrub. However, since both wheat husk and broken wheat are hard, the exfoliating action should be very gentle or you might just end up damaging your skin.
