What To Do To Soothe Earaches?

There are a number of home remedies that you can use to soothe an ear ache, but you should note that these are usually temporary solutions, especially if you frequently suffer from ear aches. If the pain is very severe, if it does not disappear within a couple of days, or if it recurs on a regular basis, then you should visit a doctor, as you may have a strong infection, or you may have developed some physical problem with your ear, both of which will require medical treatment. The ear is a very delicate organ, and it is best not to neglect such problems or delay medical assistance for an indefinite period of time.

A warm compress is among the safest and most effective ways to soothe most aches and pains, and an ear ache is no exception. Simply heat up a basin of water, dip a clean, soft cloth in the basin, squeeze out the excess water, and then place the folded cloth against your ear. This can be repeated as many times as you like while the water is still warm. The water should of course not be heated to boiling point; it only needs to be warm, not hot. Another way in which you can apply heat to your ear is to warm a little bit of olive oil, dip a piece of cotton in the warm oil, and then place the cotton in your ear after squeezing out a bit of the excess oil. This too can be repeated for as long as the oil stays warm.

The heat treatment will provide some relief from the pain, and in addition, you can use garlic to fight any infection that may be causing the pain. One way in which you can use garlic is to crush a couple of cloves of garlic to release the juices, and then put this juice in your ear with a wad of cotton, a dropper, or your finger. If you are using your finger or cotton, make sure that you do so gently, without pushing too deep into your ear. Alternatively, you can combine the garlic juice with the warm compress. You can either add the garlic juice to the olive oil, or else boil the cloves of garlic in water for a few minutes and use this water as described above, but only once it has cooled down a bit.
