How to Lose Double Chin with Exercises

A double chin is a common problem, affecting not just those people who are overweight, but it can also be seen on some people who are within their healthy weight range. This is because there are certain parts in the body where fat is stored, like the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, and the chin is one of them. There could be several factors that lead to a double chin, such as a high intake of calories, ageing, leading a sedentary lifestyle, slack facial muscles and genetics. Nobody likes to have layers of fat visible on any part of the body, especially the face, which is why people who suffer from this problem are frantically looking for a solution on how to lose double chin. Unfortunately, double chin reduction is a bit more difficult as compared to reducing the fat stored in the other parts of the body.

There are many tips and techniques on how to lose double chin that can be helpful. The first step towards double chin reduction includes following a healthy diet, which is low in fat and calories, but high in vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients. Therefore a diet that contains higher amounts of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats and low fat dairy products can be great for losing weight not just on the chin, but all over the body. The manner is which the foods are cooked also influence the amount of fat they contain. Eating foods that are cooked in less oil is much better than eating fried food.

By Exercising?

The most effective way of getting rid of a double chin, is by practicing certain exercises for double chin. Any exercise, like walking, jogging, running, swimming or cycling can help a person lose weight all over the body; however, performing exercises for double chin can help focus mainly on the fat that is deposited on the chin area, but also help in toning up the jowls, the neck and the throat. The exercises for double chin should be practiced every single day, preferably twice a day:

  • Sit up straight and tilt the head far back. The mouth should then be opened and closed, so that the chin muscles stretch with each movement. This exercises should be performed for 5 to 10 minutes
  • Stand up with the head at a normal angle. The chin should be pulled up, stretching the facial muscles. After the count of ten, the muscles should be relaxed. This exercise should be repeated around 10 times

Through Surgery?

Plastic surgery and liposuction are two of the most effective surgical double chin reduction methods. However, these options should only be considered in severe cases and that too, after getting an approval from the doctor.
