Vitamin B Complex and Urine

Vitamins and minerals are available in various different colors and result in certain color affects.

Vitamin B complex is highly responsible for changing the color of the urine. Some members of the B complex family, like Vitamin B1 (thiamine), Vitamin B3 and Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) are white in their natural state whereas Vitamin B12 is pink and Vitamin B2 is orange.

The kidneys process liquids or urine from whatever we eat and drink. The resulting urine consists of mainly water and dissolved waste material. It also involves various dead blood cells and other eliminated materials from body processes.

Vitamin B complex comprises of all the water soluble vitamins. These vitamins get dissolved in water and are washed out from the body in the form of urine. The excretion of B vitamins in normal growth cycle does not change the color of urine but when taken in excess riboflavin tends to change the color. If B vitamins are not consumed daily in adequate amount, it tends to cause the deficiency symptoms. These symptoms further lead to organ malfunctioning which in turn eliminates waste materials with the urine. Thus, color of the urine indicates the health condition of an individual.

The normal urine color is pale yellow.

Taking excess of Riboflavin changes the color to yellow or orange because riboflavin is orange in color. It indicates that a vitamin tablet has completely dissolved in the body. A deficiency in Vitamin B12 causes liver problems which in turn results in dark yellow urine. Excess of Vitamin B 2 can result in orange color urine. Brown urine is an indication of a serious health condition like liver disease or hepatitis, caused by deficiency of B complex Vitamin. Urine can turn to a brighter green color in case of toxicity of B vitamins.

The color of your urine may determine your health condition. Ensure that you incorporate adequate nutrients from B group vitamins to curb the deficiency symptoms and fight diseases. If these symptoms are curbed and diseases are treated, the process of color change in your urine will automatically reduce.

Urine is the liquid waste produced in the human body. The waste disposal process helps the body get rid of excess substances from within the various parts of the body.

Waste disposal is also useful to remove toxins from the body. Urine is extracted from the blood by the kidneys. This is a continuous process that takes place throughout the day. This urine is then passed into the urinary bladder where it collects until there is a sufficient quantity to trigger the desire to urinate. Under normal health conditions, the concentration of urine determines its color. An individual who has not urinated for a long period of time will have darker colored urine. This is because some of the moisture from the urine gets absorbed back into the body. Darker colored urine may also create a burning sensation in the urethra during and after urination. Urine will be extremely light if an individual drinks lots of water and urinates regularly.

This is a better situation than one where urine is dark in color. Several health problems in the liver, kidneys and urinary system can cause darkening of urine. This is a medical symptom and must be reported to a doctor immediately as it occurs.

Vitamins and minerals are essential nutrients for the human body, even though they are consumed in small quantities. The human body is extremely complicated and has several different functions that take place at any given time. Each of these functions requires different nutrients. The consumption of vitamins is essential for the maintenance of the health of the human body. Vitamin and minerals are usually absorbed into the body from the various different foods that are consumed. However, one may not be consuming enough of certain vitamins. In this situation, the consumption of vitamin supplements may be advised.

It is best to consult with a doctor before adding vitamin supplements to one’s diet. One such group of supplements is known as Vitamin B complex.

There is an interesting link between Vitamin B complex and urine. Individuals consuming Vitamin B complex will have a bright yellow urine color when they urinate within two hours after consuming the vitamin. After this bright yellow urine color has passed, the individual will urinate normally in subsequent visits to the toilet. The reason for the bright yellow urine color is that all B complex vitamins are water soluble. The body absorbs the vitamins that it needs through the digestive system into the blood. Of these vitamins, some are absorbed and others are discarded as they are not needed. These discarded vitamins are those that cause the bright yellow urine color.

The link between Vitamin B and urine color is normal.

Any individual who has this condition should not be concerned. The link between Vitamin B and urine color is linked to the first urination that occurs after the consumption of the vitamins. If this color persists throughout the day, then the individual should consult with a doctor for a series of tests. The link between Vitamin B and urine color means that some people prefer to consume the supplement in the morning or day time so that their urine color is normal before they go to sleep.

While the consumption of Vitamin B makes urine yellow, it does not have any bad effect on the body. The body is capable of filtering out the waste or excess vitamins which is why Vitamin B makes urine yellow in the first place. Individuals consuming such vitamin supplements should consume normal amounts of water and should urinate regularly as well. It is possible that the consumption of Vitamin B along with irregular urination may cause discomfort during urination. However, this is linked to poor urination habits rather than the vitamin itself.
