Male Cloudy Urine
Cloudy urine can be caused due a whole lot of reasons. While it is normal to see a change in urine color once in a while, cloudy urine when it appears accompanied with pain or a burning sensation, should be investigated properly. Most of the causes of cloudy urine are harmless and disappear in due course. However, if the change in color and clarity does not show any signs of changing or if there are other secondary symptoms, you should consult a doctor and ask for a proper diagnosis. Cloudy urine, sometime, can indicate some severe condition and underlying disease in the body.
One of the most common causes of cloudy urine is called phospaturia. Phosphaturia is a harmless condition and is an indication of increased phosphate levels in the urine. The high level of phosphate usually occurs when you have eaten a heavy meal or drunk a lot of milk. To determine whether the cause of cloudy urine is phosphaturia put a few drops of vinegar in the urine. If the cloudiness disappears and the urine becomes clear, you can conclude that it is a case of phosphaturia. Phosphaturia does not require any treatment because it is mostly harmless. However, to reduce the phosphate level, you should drink plenty of water and avoid milk products temporarily. Another common cause of cloudy urine is bladder infection, which is also known as cystis. In this case the cloudiness of urine is caused by the presence of white blood cells (leukocytes) in the urine. Besides cloudy urine, bladder infection also shows symptoms like pain in the abdomen, burning sensation while urinating, and fever or chills. Cranberry juice and baking soda solution are some well-known remedies for bladder infection. Apple cider vinegar and grape seed extract are also beneficial in the treatment of bladder infections.
An infection of prostate can also cause cloudy urine. This is one cause of cloudy urine that is particular to males (females do not have prostate gland). A prostate infection will show symptoms similar to bladder infection – pain, a burning sensation, the frequent urge to urinate along with fever and chills. To remedy prostate infection you should eat vitamin C- and zinc-rich foods along with essential fatty acids. Sugar-rich foods and alcohol are to be avoided.
Kidney stones can also cause cloudy urine. When you have kidney stones you will experience several other symptoms besides cloudy urine. The common symptoms associated with kidney stones are severe abdominal pain, nausea, persistent urge to urinate, burning sensation, and fever. Kidney stones are serious and you should visit a doctor for an accurate diagnosis and treatment. However, there are also a few home remedies worth trying out. One of the popular remedies is to boil kidney beans and drink the water. Eating fruits like grapes, pomegranate seeds, apple and watermelon can help.
