Hip

The hip of the human body is the protuberance of the femur.

Sometimes it is also referred to as the greater trochanter which consists of fat and muscles. The femur and acetabulum connects to the pelvis by the hip joint.  The hip is responsible for managing the weight of the body in all stances. Hip pain is very common as the hip is made of only bone and socket.

Having hip pains can be very uncomfortable and is sometimes difficult to cure. The pains can be felt anywhere in and around the hip and sometimes even the lower back, thigh or groin.

The hip bones are divided into 5 different areas, the Sacrum, the coccyx, the ilium, the ischium and the pubis.

Each of these bones plays a role in the human body and are all equally important and need to be seen to if there are any complications. Experiencing pain in the hip can be due to multiple reasons but the most frequent are normally that of joggers or runners. If you run or jog for a long period of time you might experience some pain.

Joint ointments and a bit of rubbing will sort that problem out in no time.

Osteonecrosis of the hip is also one of the serious and painful problems that might be experienced. If you have this condition, your blood vessels slowly eliminate all the nourishment from the top of the femur.  If your femur does not have blood circulating continuously, it will eventually collapse. If this happens you will experience excruciating pain when you move your hip and you may even develop arthritis or a noticeable limp.

There is a possibility that the cartilage could also breakdown, leaving you feeling even worse. You will most likely go through the same problems with your other hip if this happens to the one. This illness is most common in adults aged 30 – 50.

Total hip replacement is often used to cure hip related illnesses as it is effective on elderly people and it is not very often performed on youngsters.

It is this way because hip replacement surgery has many disadvantages that would affect the younger population more than it would affect the elderly.  Hip replacement surgery is excellent but the only major difference is that with the artificial hip, you can not move it as freely as you could have before the surgery and it sometimes feels uncomfortable.
