- Rest, and limit movements of the area where the bone is broken.
- To decrease the pain and swelling and to promote faster healing, wrap ice in a wet towel and apply on the affected area for 10 minutes.
- Keep the bone in elevated position to avoid accumulation of fluids in that area and decrease swelling.
- Quit smoking as it hinders the healing process of the broken bones.
- Exercise on daily basis; this helps to improve bone mineral density and strengthens the bone over time.
- Drink dandelion leaf tea to increase bone density.
- Calcium, vitamin D and phosphorus are very important to keep the bone healthy. Consume foods rich in calcium these include; milk and milk products (cheese, cottage cheese and yogurt) sesame, almonds, dark green leafy vegetables, salmon, sardines, and broccoli.
- Soak almonds over night, next day blend them with cow’s milk or soy milk and drink daily.
- Decrease the consumption of alcohol, coffee and caffeinated beverages as they interfere with calcium absorption.
