A skin rash could be a lot of things. You haven’t said what your rash has been diagnosed as or what your prescribed medicine is, so it’s difficult to tell what will work on it. If your elbow itches, try some standard home remedies for itches
- Before you sleep, apply olive oil or primrose oil to your elbow.
- Aloe is also usually helpful for rashes and itches. Apply an aloe vera gel several times a day, if possible using fresh gel taken directly from a plant. When bathing or washing your elbow, use a mild soap, and reapply the gel immediately after.
- Avoid using cosmetics or other lotions on your elbow, and avoid scratching the rash at all costs. This can worsen or even spread the infection, and also lengthen the healing process.
- Vitamin E and vitamin C should also help. Try vitamin C supplements, or better still, eat fruits containing vitamin C.
- You can also directly apply vitamin C to the rash by crushing tablets and mixing the powder with water. For vitamin E, over the counter oils are available.
If none of these treatments work, you should go back to your doctor and ask for a new prescription.

Natural cure for rash on elbow Firstly if there is an itch associated with the rash, do not attempt to scratch. The scraping caused by scratching will lead to further infection and a longer time to heal. Apply calamine lotion to the part and this will relive you of the urge to scratch. Most rashes are soothed and relieved with a generous application of aloe vera gel. The fresh gel taken from a leaf of a young plant is most effective on stubborn rashes. Fresh application should be made once every 6 hours on the affected area for 3 -4 days for maximum benefit. At night apply vitamin E oil, olive oil or primrose oil on to the affected area.
Try to keep away from direct sunlight or cover your elbow when travelling. Sunlight and exposure to the surroundings may elevate the infection. Water and soap should be used as sparingly as possible. And if you must cleanse the area, do not attempt to do it more than twice a day. While cleansing the infected part, use a mild soap or a gentle cleansing agent and swab the elbow with a clean piece of cloth or a cotton ball which should be discarded after use. Deodorant soaps are a no-no.
As a preventive measure consume citrus fruits containing Vitamin C or an over the counter Vitamin C supplement.
