Warm up and stretching exercises are a crucial part of any workout routine. The best stretching routine would depend mainly on the muscle you consider stretching. So what exactly is stretching? Stretching involves the deliberate lengthening of your muscles. Stretching is more than just moving around and bending. It is one of the best ways to increase your joint mobility, improve circulation, prevent any training injuries, improve your posture, and relieve stress. Here are some of the best stretching exercises that will help improve your flexibility and your range of motion. If these are done properly you will have a well-balanced and flexible body. Some of the best stretches when done properly can get you excellent results.

  • The Quadriceps Stretch: This is one of the best stretches for your quadriceps, which is a muscle in the front of your thigh. A well toned quadriceps helps you lift your knees and also helps increase your speed. While standing, grab a stationery object for support and balance and with the other hand grasp your leg around the ankle and lift it towards your buttock. Make sure you don't slouch while doing this stretching exercise as it negates the effectiveness of this stretch. Hold this stretch for about 10 seconds and repeat this at least ten times for each leg.
  • Best Stretch for your Chest and Shoulder: This is among the best stretching techniques for your chest and shoulder. It could be done while sitting or standing. Clasp your hands behind your back and make sure your arms are straight. Slowly move your hands towards the ceiling and make sure you go only as high as you find comfortable. Ensure that you feel a stretch in your chest and shoulders.
  • Shoulder Stretch: This is one of the best stretch exercises for your shoulder. Take you're your arm out to the side and straight across your chest. Take your left hand around your elbow and curl it. Gently pull your right arm and deepen the stretch in your shoulder. Then try this stretch on the other side.
  • Triceps Stretch: Among the best stretches for your triceps, it is also the easiest. While seated bend your left elbow above your head and with your right hand gently pull the left elbow further in until you feel a stretch in your triceps. Do this stretch with the other hand as well.

Exercise and stretching is very important as it increases your flexibility and also reduces any chances of injury. If you feel any pain while doing the stretches it is best that you go easy and slow down.
