Pimples are probably the most common problem amongst individuals in their teens or early twenties. Some unlucky individuals may even suffer from a seemingly chronic case of the condition well into their thirties. Since you mention that in addition to the presence of pimples, you also have very prominent whiteheads and blackheads, you are probably suffering from a case of acne. This is definitely not uncommon and almost two in every five children will experience the same during the early course of their lives. There are a number of causes of the condition although, considering your age, a hormonal imbalance within your body is likely to be the root cause. Essentially, the pimples are formed as a result of the oil called sebum which is produced by the sebaceous glands located deep in the skin. This oil gets accumulated within the pores as a result of blockage. Initially, this will develop into a blackhead due to its continuous and constant exposure to dust, dirt and air. Our skin has some amount of dormant bacteria present no matter how much you attempt to clean it. At times, these bacteria may be present in the skin pores and if it reacts with the trapped sebaceous oil, the area may get infected - giving rise to a pimple. The most human reaction to the situation is to burst the pimple. However, this is strongly discouraged for the simple reason that if the pimple were to be infected and the infected oil is allowed to come in contact with your face, these areas may also get infected and a breakout of acne is likely to take place.

Because of the fact that pimples are a very common occurrence, there are a number of home remedies that you could try in order to help relieve the condition initially and then completely eradicate it. Toothpaste is considered to be a very effective home remedy option when treating acne and all that is required is that you apply a small amount of the paste over the top of a blemish and allow it to dry before washing it off. Avoid leaving the paste on for too long as it could tend to irritate the skin. You can make a mixture of equal amounts of lemon juice and groundnut oil. Apply this creamy mixture to your face and allowed it to soak into your skin for a period of 15 minutes before being washed off with water. This is an effective way to cleanse and moisturize your skin as well as prevent acne and pimples.
