Under Eye Circle and Pimples Treatment

by Sam Malone

Dark skin under the eyes or dark circles as they are commonly referred to could be caused due to a variety of factors. These include heredity and are especially noticeable in people who have deep set eyes or are extremely fair. Thin and delicate as the skin is, it tends to get thinner and lose fat as we grow older. The blood vessels under the eyes get more noticeable and hence the appearance of dark circles. They can also be the result of an allergic reaction to dust, pollen or even food allergies. Lack of sleep or an iron deficiency that makes the blood vessels under your eyes prominent is another cause. An excess intake of salt and heavy smoking, sinus infections and pregnancy are other factors and dark circles could also be the outward symptom of diseases that cause fluid retention including ailments of the liver, thyroid, heart and kidney.

Commonly practised remedies include drinking plenty of water, using a sunscreen lotion of an SPF above 30 under the eyes and long uninterrupted sleeping hours. Slices of cucumber or potato placed over the eyes for about 15 minutes will rest the eyes and make them look alert and fresh. Foods that contain antioxidant pigments such as parsley, onions, blackcurrant, blueberries and green tea will help expel the toxic elements in the body contributing to healthy skin.

Pimples are a common problem that in most cases affects people with oily skin. They are usually the result of hormonal imbalances during the teenage years, constipation, dehydration, excess consumption of beverages with a high caffeine content, lack of sleep or because the face has not been thoroughly cleansed. You have mentioned that you wash your face as often as thrice a day. Use a gentle face wash every time you wash your face and a scrub twice a week. This will keep away the black heads which eventually become pus filled pimples. You could prepare a mixture of boiled milk and fresh lime juice and apply it on the affected areas. Rinse properly after 15-20 minutes. This will cure you of pimples as well as lighten skin as lime juice acts as a natural bleaching agent. Groundnut oil and lime juice mixed in a 1:1 ratio and applied onto the pimples will help reduce the blackheads as well. Apart from these make sure that the sunscreen lotion is not just confined to the dark circles but to all exposed parts of your body. Try to wear a wide brimmed hat when you go out and clothes that cover as much of the body as possible such as long sleeves.
