How do I get my son to stop sucking his fingers?

Advice on how to stop kids from sucking fingers-
Encourage your son for some creative work in which both hands is required. This will keep the fingers occupied.
If he sucks in sleep paint the fingers with vinegar or pickles or edible oil like mustard oil.
Always explain that this application is to help him remove the habit of sucking. Do it with his permission.
Do not ever say you are bad or shame etc. This will hurt his self esteem.
Keep peer sessions and show how finger sucking affects the teeth and nails and the fingers too. It is a source of infection and illness. How healthy are the friends who do not suck their fingers. Encourage the child to speak out his feelings and remove his stress by means of play, music or normal healthy conversations.
