Hand

It is a fact that the hand is the most used part of the human body and without it we will be deprived of many things.



Our hands allow us to explore, it allows us to draw, to write, to type, to earn our money, to eat and many do many other things. In order to use our hands, we are required to exert our muscles, joints and tendons.

Carpals are eight small bones and that is what our wrists are comprised of.



A tube called the carpal tunnel runs through the wrist, and also has tendons and nerves inside. This is covered by a ligament, which holds it in place.

The pains we experience in our wrists are common.



Pain is experienced through a number of activities when we use our hands, the constant moving of our wrists and our fingers, and a perfect example will be typing and tennis. Know that when you notice your wrists bruising and swelling it is possible that it could be injured.



Wrist movement and also ill-shaped joints can be a sign of fracture, while other wrist injuries and disorders result from osteoporosis. There are also other complications such as sprains, gout, tendonitis and arthritis of the hand and wrist.

Wrists and Hand Arthritis

Inflamed joints or damaged joints are the term for arthritis.



The symptoms of arthritis the hand and wrist are commonly stiffness, swelling and the pain that indicate the used amount of the fingers and hands. As the problem worsens, the limitation and the deformity of the wrist and hand movement will grow.



When inflammatory is identified blood tests will be required. Further actions of treatment will be taken when the wrists and hands cause serious complications.

A hand surgeon will be the one who will recognize on what steps to take when it comes to the wrists and hand disorders and injuries. In order to handle such a procedure a good few years of studying and operations with the added knowledge of hand surgery and orthopedics and specialists in bones, nerves, tendons, muscles, fingernails and fingers.  

The use of anesthesia will be the procedure involved if the patient has to undergo hand surgery. The general, regional and the local anesthesia will be the options for the procedure. It all depends on the period and the nature, the patient’s health and the medical condition of the patient when it comes to the certain anesthesia that will be used in the operation.
