The symptoms you have described do not sound like a simple and uncomplicated case of swimmer's ear. This problem is usually manifested by the simple symptom of the ear closing due to too much water going inside it. The first thing you need to do is get your son checked out by a doctor as soon as is possible.

This is because blood and water continually coming out of his ear is a sure sign of trouble that is certainly more complicated than simple swimmer's ear. It is usually indicative of something stronger and bigger. Otherwise, it may well be a case that your son has had swimmer's ear for a while now and it has been totally neglected.

In such cases, it is possible that the excessive blockage has formulated a breeding ground for infections of some sort. This would be a reason why there is blood coming out of his ear. If for some reason you cannot consult with a doctor, you should first get your son to stop swimming for a week and see what happens. It would be possible to take some easy measures at home to take care of the problem once the bleeding has stopped. But while it is bleeding, it is dangerous to try anything.

To begin with, you can dilute some fresh garlic juice with equal quantities of water and put a drop in the ear. This will kill any bacteria that may be residing there. Alternately, you can also clean the ear out with hydrogen peroxide. Once this has been accomplished, then you can go about cleaning up the residue. Remember that you should use a proper ear swab, which is not too hard and you should also not penetrate too deeply into the ear. This process may cause more damage instead of actually helping out. Keep in mind that this should only be done if the bleeding has stopped. After this, tell your son to give his ear a rest for another week before he starts swimming again. Once he begins to swim again, make sure he always wears ear plugs when he goes for a swim. This will help to protect against such problems in the future. Ear plugs will also help to maintain proper pressure in the ears so that they will not close as easily. Besides, they are hygienic and do not allow all sorts of things to get inside the ear from the swimming pool.
