Leg swelling remedies
Unnatural swelling of legs is a condition that is typically called edema in medical terms. It occurs most commonly during pregnancy, or is a result of water retention due to a diet high in salt. It is sometimes also known to occur in women just before the onset of the menstrual cycle.
In some cases, edema occurs when the person is constantly sitting down with legs dangling, as opposed to touching the ground. The very first recommended remedy is to lie down with your legs raised above the level of your head. You may need to place two or three pillows for this purpose.
The most important thing is also to cut salt from the diet by half immediately. You must also increase your water intake to about 14-16 glasses a day. More water will flush out excess salt from the body and reduce swelling in just a day. Try not to stand for excessively long periods of time, and try to limit walking and any other kind of exercise that would use your legs and feet excessively. Do not wear any kind of heeled shoes – in this condition, wearing flat shoes is a must. Avoid wearing tight socks, or any other kind of apparel that fits tightly around the legs or feet.
