Women feel itchier while they are pregnant because their skin is stretching especially in the abdominal area and at the area of the breasts. Many women who have some sort of a condition of the skin which is already bothering them like dry skin, eczema or an allergic condition may find that it worsens during pregnancy. Itchy skin home treatment Itchy skin is usually a result of extremely dry surface skin. This kind of dryness occurs when the body lacks adequate amounts of moisture to keep skin well lubricated. It is possible you are spending too much time indoors in heated or air-conditioned environments. You should go out, and preferably take a walk for a while. Perspiration will see to it that your skin has at least some moisture going to it. Other effective home remedies for dry skin include moisturizing your skin and maintaining this moisture. You must have a daily routine for this. After a warm bath, apply a layer of olive oil to your still damp and warm skin. This will be absorbed immediately and be sealed in by the time you dry off. Olive oil is the best thing to use since it has therapeutic healing properties and will help with already itchy and dry skin.
You must also follow a weekly routine of exfoliation. Make a scrub for this using sugar crystals and olive oil and scrub all over your body. Bathe with warm water and a mild soap after you have done this. This will help to remove the surface layer of dry skin and cleanse your skin even further. You can also make a thick paste of mashed ripe bananas and warm whole milk and apply this to your skin. The process may be messy, but it has excellent results.
