Please advice as my 3 month old baby is constipated.

I have 4 children and these 2 remedies have never let me down. First I try just giving warm water in a bottle. That usually works within a few hours. If that's not successful, put a half teaspoon of dark corn syrup in a warm bottle of the formula. Works like a charm.

Constipation is a common problem among babies and so there is no need to be worried. You should check his formula and see if you can switch it to something else. In some cases the constipation is accompanied by bloating of the stomach and continuous crying of the baby. This should be referred to the doctor as soon as possible.

You can increase the amount of water you give you baby since this will help the baby pass stools that are soft. Most babies develop constipation when the water intake is reduced, leading to hard stools that they find difficult to pass. You can also give your child prune juice which is usually an effective remedy. Dilute the juice with some water before you give it your baby. The juice will help relieve the constipation.

If you are breastfeeding the baby, you can make some changes in your diet. This will help relieve the baby's constipation. You can ensure that you eat lots of fruits and drink water and fruit juices during the day. You can drink a cup of warm milk at bedtime. Eat food that has plenty of fiber – that is food items like whole wheat, cereals, spinach, carrots, and radish. Radish juice is very effective in relieving constipation and you can drink this at bedtime.
