Skin Cancer The main function of skin is to protect the body from injury, light, infection and effect of sudden changes in atmospheric conditions.
This cancer develops as the malignant cancer cells spreads on the skin from inner body.
The skin cancer develops due to main causes such as 1] Age 2] Heredity 3] Excessive exposure to sun rays 4] Sun burns 5] Ultraviolet radiation 6] environment. Because of above causes skin cells becomes weak and catch the cancer disease. Development of skin cancer is normally slow and it is difficult to detect.
The main reason for difficulty in detecting is that the skin is the only body part which is directly in the contact with any out side development. For example, due to abrasion it becomes red and remains for a longer time till it cures. So some times the time span misguides the development.
The normal signs of skin cancer are, sore skin, small lump formation which is bright - waxy and smooth in feel, round red or reddish brown and flat red spot which is rough having scale type feel.
There are mainly three types of skin cancers namely, Melanoma, Squamous carcinoma and Basal cell carcinoma.
Melanoma cancer gets developed by malignant cancer cells. Melanoma cancer cells are found in the skin cells which color the skin.
This changes color of the skin. This disease is mainly found in adults. This cancer is more serious as compared to Squamous Carcinoma and Basal cell Carcinoma.
The more worrying and dangerous part of Melanoma cancer is that it spreads very fast.
The skin cancer which grows on hand, arm, neck, face or head is called as Squamous or Basal cell carcinoma. These two types of skin cancers are easy to detect and can be treated fast. The dignosis of the skin biopsy can read out the seriousness of the disease.
And the doctor can start the required treatment faster.
You can prevent skin cancer due to excessive exposure to sunlight with the use of sunscreen lotion, which guards exposed skin from the harmful effects of the ultra violet rays and sunburns. Another way you can effectively guard yourself against skin cancer is by wearing light clothing which covers your skin completely. This will avoid harsh UV reaching your skin directly.
Regarding hereditary skin ailments you can consul the doctor in advance and start taking necessary measures so that the incidence of skin cancer is reduced considerably.
