Indigestion is a common problem which affects most people at some point in their lives. However in case you experience chronic indigestion, it is advisable to consult your doctor so that any underlying conditions can be identified and treated. You can try out the following natural remedies for indigestion.
  • Add a small amount of ground cardamom to ginger, coriander and cloves and consume after meals.
  • Add lemon juice to water and drink before meals to prevent indigestion. You can also use apple cider vinegar instead of lemon juice.
  • Add a couple of drops of mint essence to a glass of water and drink every four hours.
  • Peppermint is a popular home remedy for gastritis and digestion related problems. Prepare a beneficial tea by steeping a few dried peppermint leaves in hot water. This will also get rid of heartburn.
  • Add half a teaspoon of carom seeds to a quarter teaspoon of rock salt. Chew this and then drink water.
  • Add a quarter teaspoon of sea salt, five chopped basil leaves and a pinch of black pepper to three tablespoons of curd. Eat this mixture four times daily for one week.
  • Herbal teas such as raspberry, chamomile and blackberry are beneficial in treating indigestion.
  • Drink a tablespoon of cinnamon water one hour after meals.
  • Add a pinch of salt to a piece of fresh ginger and eat ten minutes before your meals. You can even drink ginger tea to alleviate nausea, bloating, gas and heartburn.
All of these remedies are extremely useful in the treatment of indigestion. However if this is a chronic problem you could visit the doctor to seek proper medication and also avoid those foods that are known to cause the problem.
