Hives are patches and rings which develop in an individual in response to an allergen. It is referred to medically as “Urticaria”. The first and foremost thing is to find out the root cause of allergy. Once the reason is known, it becomes easy to overcome the problem.  Try these simple remedies:

  • Take vitamin C, vitamin E, and zinc to help heal.
  • To relieve pain, apply cool compression on the affected area. It will also help to get rid of itching.
  • Apply a paste of 2 cups of oatmeal and 3 tablespoons of cornstarch for 15-30 minutes.
  • Take some milk of magnesia and apply it on the red patches. This alkaline solution will help a great deal in removing itching.
  • Take 2 tsp of turmeric powder in a cup of water daily.
  • Take an ice cold shower or bath and sit in front of a fan on high for about five minutes.
  • Herbal tea is very good for health. To soothe your nerves, go in for peppermint or passionflower tea. Other good options include chamomile, valerian and catnip.
  • Apply some plain, non-scented baby oil on the hives.
