Relief from Hives
suggested by Peg on Thursday, June 19, 2008

I am very prone to hives and no certain trigger can be identified. I found a remedy in my Great-Grandmother's cookbook. 1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar in a juice glass of water. Drink before breakfast. This normally calms my hives.

sasafrass tea
suggested by varline on Thursday, May 29, 2008

When my son came in contact with caterpillars he would break out in giant hives all over his body. THANK GOD FOR THE SASAFRASS TREE!!! I would make him a cup of tea and within 30 minutes the hives disappeared completely when Benadryl never did. Can be bought at your local grocers.

cold rags for hives
suggested by kelsey on Wednesday, February 6, 2008

I went in some hay and got the hives on the back of my legs so close together it looked like one big red/pink spot on the back of my legs so i took 2 cold rags and put them on the back of my legs for about 8-10 minutes and TOTALLY relieved itching.

Green Tea

Green tea or green tea tablets help many people with hives. Try it! These tablets are very reasonably priced.

Don't Itch!!
suggested by [unspecified] on Tuesday, October 16, 2007

First thing to remember is not to itch or stress out. This will make the irritation way worse! Take benadryl at the very first sign of the hives appearing. But try to stick to it at night. The non drowsy benadryl doesn't work! Hot showers don't help either, try cool water with some baking soda in it. It really relieves the pain and itchiness! And don't waste your money on benadryl anti-itch cream, this doesn't work either! Good luck!

Baking Soda
suggested by Shannon on Thursday, June 14, 2007

Woke up at 2am with horrible quarter sized hives all over. Took 2 benedryl but it was so itchy I could hardly stand it. So I tried adding a little water to some baking soda and rubbing it on the hives. TOTALLY relieved the itching and I slept great.

Liver Cleansing
suggested by [unspecified] on Thursday, April 26, 2007

It has been reported that if one does a liver cleanse every two to three weeks until they see around 2000 stones, any skin condition would clear up. Also they would begin to go to their ideal weight.

Oatmeal baths
suggested by Megan on Saturday, February 24, 2007

I have been getting hives since I was a child, the frequency has decreased as I've gotten older. They seem to come on when I am sick with a cold. I take Benadryl to ease the itch, unfortunately this makes me sleepy. Oatmeal baths are great, also. I have a small cloth sack that I fill with oats. I rub this on the hives while soaking.

Vitamin C and Cayenne
suggested by [unspecified] on Saturday, January 20, 2007

I read an article about Vitamin C's anti-histimine and anti-inflammatory results with high doses on lab rats (who btw can produce their own natural Vitamin C). I started taking it for my "out of nowhere" uticaria problem that I had for months. It worked. Though I would still have a case whenever I forgot to take my Vitamin C, it pretty much was my cure. When it seemed I'd reached the end of Vit C's assistance, I tried Cayenne. Now I take 2g of C daily and 500mg Cayeene twice weekly and all is good.

Vitamin C
suggested by Andrew on Friday, January 12, 2007

Hives is just a mistake by your immune system. Large Doses of Vitamin C cleared me right up, I took 2,000 milligrams a day and was noticeably better in 1 week.
