Health advices on blood sugar count

Blood sugar concentration, also referred to as the blood glucose level, should be in the range of 4 to 6 mmol/L. Normally, the blood glucose levels are automatically regulated by the body through a complex mechanism that is to a large extent influenced by two types of hormones. In some people, the body is unable to regulate glucose levels, either due to inadequate production of the insulin hormone or resistance to the effects of the hormone itself. This condition is known as diabetes mellitus, although there are also other conditions too in which blood glucose levels can be abnormal, including hyperthyroidism. With diabetes, blood sugar levels are abnormally high, while with some other disorders, blood sugar levels can be abnormally low.

Diabetes is probably the most common disease involving abnormal blood glucose levels. Although type 1 diabetes is primarily hereditary, it seems that the risk of type 2 diabetes can be brought down by maintaining a generally healthy diet and lifestyle. This involves regular exercise, and a diet high in fiber and low in fat.

If you suspect that you have diabetes or some other disorder related to your blood glucose levels, you should visit your doctor for a check up.
