Treatment to lower blood sugar levels -
Increase in blood sugar is referred to as diabetes mellitus. It is one of the most commonly seen disorders in the developed countries. Insufficient secretion of insulin or inadequate number of beta pancreatic cells results in hyperglycemia or high blood sugar levels.
Strict dietary adherence with exercise is a good combination to combat the disorder. A proper eating schedule with less amount of food is important. The stress on the system is reduced and helps in sugar regulation.
Reduce the intake of saturated fats and trans fats. Avoid fatty foods and carbonated beverages. An episode of hypoglycemia is corrected by a carbohydrate and protein snack. Limiting the intake of salt is helpful, as uncontrolled sugar levels give rise to secondary complications. A high fiber diet with moderate protein and low carbohydrate is recommended. Ayurveda recommends bitter gourd in the form of a vegetable or juice. Fiber in fenugreek helps in lowering blood sugar levels. Fenugreek seeds (around 10 grams) are soaked overnight and consumed in the morning. Gooseberry is an effective remedy. A teaspoon of the juice in combination with bitter gourd juice proves beneficial. Curry leaves consumed raw helps in decreasing the risk of diabetes through obesity and heredity. One more natural cure for high sugar is the consumption of ten leaves of tulasi or basil, bel patras and margosa leaves.
