Constipation is the improper bowel movement and a disorder resulting because of gastro-intestinal disturbance. A few handy tips are here! - A gentle massage on the baby's tummy in a clockwise direction is adviceable.
- Giving a warm water bath is helpful.
- Barley or oatmeal cereals, prunes, peaches, plums, apricots and most vegetables are preferred.
- Apple juice contains more sugars and liquids and has a laxative effect. So, it helps relieve constipation.
- Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast are to be avoided.

A 5&1/2 month old baby may not be ready for solid food or commercially available baby foods, despite what the baby food companies may say. These products may contain starches like tapioca or corn that may bind up your babies digestive tract. You should avoid feeding your baby these products and switch back to what was working at least for another month. try rubbing your babies abdomen in a clockwise direction.
