What is natural cleansing and how is it done?

The contractions of the muscles that line the digestive tract naturally keep the colon and the intestines clean. However, when food wastes are not properly expelled from the body, it becomes necessary to take measures towards cleansing the digestive tract. Mostly, dietary and lifestyle imbalances cause accumulation of food in the colon leading to constipation and irregular bowel movements. Excessive consumption of meat-based food items, caffeinated beverages and alcohol often cause these problems. Foods that have a very high sugar content as well as white flour products also lead to this condition.

Include lots of fruits and leafy vegetables in your daily diet. This will ensure that you consume enough natural fiber, nutrients and roughage to keep your system clean. Fruits and raw vegetables are also rich sources of water, which helps prevent constipation. Also, drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day to ensure proper digestion of food. The pulp or the juice of the bael fruit, when consumed before dinner every night, works as an excellent laxative. Prunes are also known to be effective laxative agents, so eat as many fruits of this family as you can. For instance, the juice of grapes can be consumed every day in the morning, or alternatively, raisins soaked for a couple of days in water can also be eaten along with the waterin which they have been soaking. Eat two oranges every night before going to bed and two every morning to cleanse your system. Eating a few figs soaked overnight in water every morning also helps.

Alternatively, you could eat half a papaya at breakfast every morning to avoid constipation. Spinach contains organic nutrients that cleanse the digestive tract of food wastes. You may either use raw spinach in salads or mix 100ml of spinach juice with an equal quantity of water and drink this solution daily as an effective cleansing measure. Another popular way of cleansing is to drink a glass of lukewarm water into which is added the juice of a lime and a few drops of honey every morning on an empty stomach. Bentonite clay, which is an edible form of clay, may also be consumed by making a paste of it with water. Flax seeds have the property of absorbing water. Thus, when soaked overnight and then ground to a paste and eaten in the morning, these seeds facilitate bowel movements. Besides these, exercise regularly and avoid stress to ensure proper digestion of food.
