I get swelling of inner cheek moving to lips once in a month. I take 2 Benadryl, but it makes me drowsy and takes a day to combat the swelling. Kindly suggest some remedies?

If you are merely taking Benadryl to combat the swelling, you should stop doing this at once. This is because there are easier and less powerful ways to keep the swelling in control. Benadryl will always make you drowsy and will also, if taken beyond a point, it becomes an addictive medication. Since it is so easily available, people tend to abuse this drug if they are in pain or discomfort of any kind. You can take care of the swelling by using simpler methods such as ice cold pack applications. This is the fastest and most effective way of reducing inflammation in any part of the body. If cold packs do not work for you, you can also take warm packs. Sometimes, people find that warmth is a more soothing option than coolness. As an alternative, you can also massage your face gently with any warm oil. This will help by dispersing the blood that has clotted in the area of excessive swelling and thus be of great help in bringing down the swelling as well. Use olive oil or mustard oil for good results with a massage. Both these oils are extremely high in healing powers and will always help to heal your probable cause of injury as well.

As to the cause of your problem, you may want to get a medical examination to determine this. Sometimes, there can be some deep rooted internal problem that you may not be able to figure out by yourself. And if you start taking any kind of treatment or medicine for this, you will find that it can actually end up damaging the situation rather than helping you out any. So your best bet is to approach this systematically by consulting with a doctor first. The next step you want to take is closely examine the way you sleep. It is possible that you are sleeping in a way whereby you manage to fall asleep with the wrong kind of posture. You may also be pressing down too hard on some hidden nerve in the cheek or something equally severe. This may be giving you problems. Try to get someone to observe, or try to record yourself and see if this is the case. However, if this problem has persisted for more than three months in a row, you must seek medical assistance. This is important because you do not want to neglect anything that may be big.
