Tooth Abscess Home Remedy: I have an abscess tooth, this has caused my face to swollen up. I have been taken clindamycin for 2 days now and the swelling has not reduced. What can I do to help the swelling go down?

Natural Remedies for Tooth Abscess

An abscess is a small hole or pocket which is usually filled with pus. This can be extremely painful. You should visit the doctor as soon as you can since this will require cleaning. In the meanwhile, you can try some home remedies to try and bring the swelling down.

  • Heat some water in a pan. Dip a soft towel in this. Hold this against your cheek. This will give you relief. You can also try the cold treatment by holding an ice pack against your cheek.
  • Clove oil is usually recommended in these situations so if you have some, simply dab a little on a piece of clean cotton and hold this against your tooth. You can use a used tea bag, or else wet one and then hold this against the abscessed tooth.
  • Mix one tablespoon of table salt and one tablespoon of baking soda. Now dip a dry cotton swab in this and hold this between your tooth and the cheek. After some time you will feel the bitter poison being drawn out of your abscessed tooth and into your mouth. When that happens, simply spit the poison out. You can change the cotton swab periodically and treat your abscessed tooth.
