Home Cures For Wrinkles On Legs: How do you treat wrinkles on your legs?

Wrinkled skin on the legs is a condition that may have different underlying causes, depending upon age, living conditions, genetic factors, etc. Before trying to get rid of wrinkles on the legs, it is necessary to identify the exact cause in your case. Getting the home remedies targeting the specific causes will lessen the wrinkles effectively in a faster way. Always provide accurate information to the dermatologist about your condition so that s/he can accurately diagnose the cause of the wrinkled skin.

Among the two big causes of wrinkled skin on the legs are ageing and exposure to harmful rays of sunlight. With increase in age, the skin cells reproduce slowly. Thus, formation of new cells is decreased. In addition, the different layers beneath the skin become loose. This leads to the formation of wrinkles. Moreover, the oil secreting glands also release less oil and diminish the fatty protective layer of the skin. This results in loss of moisture of the skin, and the skin becomes dry. This also results in wrinkled skin on the legs.

In addition to the natural cause, exposure to UVA and UVB rays of the sunlight is directly related to the wrinkled skin. The harmful rays destroy the collagen fibers of the skin. The collagen fibers are responsible for giving shape to the skin, and wrinkles develop due to loss of these fibers. The ultraviolet rays also damage another protein of the skin called elastin. Elastin is responsible for the strength and elasticity of the tissues beneath the skin. Due to the damage, the skin loses its flexibility and wrinkles develop as a result.

The factors that are known to aggravate wrinkled skin on the legs are cigarette smoking and exposure to pollution. Researchers have concluded that there are low levels of vitamin E in the skin of the smokers. Vitamin E prevents the skin from harmful sun radiations to some extent, but a low level in smokers develops risk.

Some of the effective home remedies that you can try to get rid of wrinkles skin on legs are as follows:

  • Apply aloe vera to keep the skin hydrated.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, especially from time 10.00 am to 4.00 pm.
  • Consume a diet consisting of an appropriate amount of protein.

Emu oil or aloe vera gel or both can hydrate the skin reducing wrinkles and making the skin look softer and healthier. Extra virgin organic coconut oil taken internally and rubbed directly on the skin promotes healthy skin and reduces wrinkles. Coconut oil is also good for healing eczema. I actually take a teaspoon of coconut oil by itself twice a day and have found that my skin is much softer and my legs are no longer dry and flaky like they used to be.

Use oatmeal powder mixed with milk instead of soap while bathing. Soap leaves behind harsh chemicals which can dry up the skin further. Regular massages with oil is a good idea. Avocado oil is found to be useful.
