This pain is often caused by an injury due to over strain of that area, an accident or other reasons. The best way to remedy this kind of pain is to take preventive measures. Therefore when you are sitting make use of a seat that is properly cushioned or padded. Avoid sitting for very long periods if possible as this helps relive the pressure of the bone and allows the body to heal itself better.
Another useful remedy that you can use is a donut cushion. These cushions as the name suggests are circular and have a hole in the center. The principle behind it is that you sit using the lower portion of each buttock because it gets supported by the ring of the donut and the tailbone is allowed to rest in the middle of the cushion without any strain on it from the weight of your body.
