Knee pain alternative treatment Knee pain can be caused by several factors.
- Sitting in an uncomfortable pose as a part of your work for long periods of time
- High impact exercises such as running on concrete roads
- Excessive pressure on knees due to being over weight
- Weakness of the hamstrings
- Arthritic or rheumatic pain
If the problem is arthritic or swollen joints, here are some remedies to help with the problem:
- Supplements containing curcumin and Boswellia are good for swelling and the pain associated with inflammation
- A pineapple extract called Bromelain also has good anti inflammatory properties
- Several studies show the benefit of Omega 3 fats for arthritis. You can tale fish oil or flax seed oil.
Both are rich in Omega 3 fats.
Here are some natural remedies to adopt for general knee pain:
- While sitting for long periods of time, change your posture often. Stretch your legs out for a while, fold them Indian style or cross your legs at the feet.
The important thing is to keep changing to avoid undue pressure on the knees - Walking up the stairs is alright, but walking down stairs can be bad for the knees, especially for old people. Take the lift on your way down wherever possible
- Work out your hamstrings. Strengthening them will take pressure off your knees.
- Try and lose some weight if you are overweight.
- Apply an ice compress in case of acute pain. Do this 3-4 times a day.
- Look for footwear that give you support and don't wear out unevenly.
