Diet is the most important aspect of diabetes treatment. If the diet taken is unhealthy there is no use of taking insulin or other such medication for diabetes.

Diabetic recipes are becoming crucial and lot of innovation has happened in case of the same. The first thumb rule is to avoid sugar in case of any diabetes recipe, even diabetic dessert recipes. Artificial sweeteners that contain aspartame can replace this sugar content. The recipes for diabetics should be low in calories, fat and cholesterol. This is because diabetics are prone to a lot of other complications such as heart diseases, hypertension, vision problems, kidney damages, etc. Hence, extra care is required while designing a diabetes diet recipe.

Red meat and fatty dairy products should be severely avoided. More and more vegetarian foods should be included in a diabetes recipe. The diabetic recipes should involve less of cooking since cooking reduces the nutrient content in the food. Raw or unpeeled food is best in the recipe for people with diabetes. Fiber present in soy can be prepared with another vegetable or boiled and eat with salt and pepper. Soluble fibers are very good and can form one of the main recipes for diabetics. Having more and more baked stuff rather than shallow frying is a much safer option in a diabetes diet recipe.

Oil just increases the cholesterol level. While cooking in oil, make sure you use olive oil. This is healthy as compared to other vegetable oils and is tasty too. Bitter gourd vegetable juice is an essential recipe for people with diabetes. This helps to control the sugar levels to a large extent. Tomatoes, leafy vegetables, onions, carrots, garlic, cabbage, lettuce need not be cooked and can be eaten in their raw form. This could serve as a dry side dish in a diabetes diet recipe. Sprouts are another viable option and can be taken for dinner. It is filling and highly nutritious as well. A pinch of salt and other flavour powder can be added for this diabetes recipe. Care should be taken not to consume excess salt too. This increases the risk of high blood pressure and water retention in the body leading to obesity, which is extremely dangerous especially for type 2 diabetics.

Turmeric, mango leaves, and fenugreek seeds can be used in diabetic recipes without any afterthought. Vegetable soups consisting of spinach, cabbage, tomato, celery can form a good diabetes diet recipe. All these vegetables can cooked together and a pinch of salt and pepper can be added.

Diabetic dessert recipes have become safer because of presence of artificial sweeteners that contain aspartame and they should be low fat and low cholesterol.

There is a wide range of innovation today in terms of various recipes for diabetics. Exploring and implementing them and making these small lifestyle changes with the right attitude will help even a diabetic person to enjoy his/ her food.
