Treatment for Pain in Hip and Leg

Hip and leg pains are very common and faced by many people. The reasons for these could be varied. Hip pain is primarily attributed to the hip joints and this could be for a number of reasons. The pain may be due to arthritis, an injury, fibromyalgia, sciatica or even post a surgery. The two main types of arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis where the former is inflammatory, damaging the ligaments and tendons and the latter occurs due to the cartilage that is present is in the hip joint getting worn out. Hip and leg pain can also be due to a muscle pull or when there is dislocation in the hip joint. Application of an ice pack may provide temporary relief from the condition. You need to take adequate amount of rest especially if you are involved in performing strenuous physical activities as this will aggravate the pain even more. Sometimes, wearing good footwear also helps in easing out the pain. If you are standing for long durations, make sure that you stand in a way so that your body weight is proportionately balanced on both the legs because if all the body weight is put on one leg, there is a lot of pain.

A massage that is done gently on the painful area can provide relief from the pain and also helps to relax the muscles. A hot water bath can also de stress you and reduce your pain making you feel fresh. A healthy diet and a normal body weight can help control the pain to a great extent. You must eat all green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits and juices so that you get the required nutrition from them. Make a conscious effort to shed some weight as you will see the difference that it will have in lessening the amount of pain. Exercising is the best way to stay fit as this would also help avoid pain and any other illnesses and thus, should be done on a regular basis. You can ask your doctor to help you out with a few exercises or stretches that you can do at home to help curb the pain. Before taking any type of treatment it is essential that you diagnose the exact cause for the pain as it could be a serious medical condition that needs immediate attention. It is therefore necessary to visit a doctor if you are experiencing too much of pain and that to for a prolonged period of time.
