Home Remedies for Crow’s Feet

Posted in Category : Natural Cures

Crow’s feet are those lines that radiate from the corners of the eyes and are often the first signs of aging skin. Also known as ‘laugh lines,’ crow’s feet can start of as thin fine lines in the skin but soon develop into deep grooves that no amount of makeup can cover. There are a number of reasons why crow’s feet occur. Aging is obviously a biggie as skin that loses its elastin and collagen over time is bound to develop lines and wrinkles. Heredity is another reason why you may have crow’s feet and your best friend has none. Experts say that crow’s feet are the result of years of squinting, laughing and frowning. Since it is impossible to refrain from these activities, seeking treatment and prevention from crow’s feet could be a major difficulty. Two big reasons for squinting are excessive sunlight and smoke. To counter these factors, you should wear dark glasses when outdoors and stop smoking. Wearing sunscreen whenever you step out is another way to prevent the premature aging of your skin. Drink plenty of water and keep your skin moisturized to halt the aging process and reduce any damage to your skin.

If you already have crow’s feet, do not despair. There are a range of skin care products that are specially designed to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the face. When choosing eye creams or skin care serums to reduce crow’s feet and wrinkles, it helps to look for products that contain either tretinoin or glycolic acid. These help remove dead skin cells and promote softer smoother skin. Apart from these, there are also a number of medical and cosmetic treatments that can help treat crow’s feet. These include procedures such as chemical peels, wrinkle fillers, laser resurfacing and Botox. However, these procedures come with their own set of side effects and potential complications. If such invasive alternatives are not your style, why not try some natural or home remedies for crow’s feet that have proven effective?

  • Poke a small hole in a vitamin E capsule and apply the liquid within around the delicate skin of your eyes. Vitamin E is essential for regeneration of new skin cells and helps keep the skin plump and moisturized
  • Beat the white of an egg and apply it to your face. Let the egg white dry before rinsing off with warm water. Egg whites help tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles
  • Soak a piece of cloth in milk and apply it to the crow’s feet. Milk contains glycolic acid that acts like a natural chemical peel on the skin. It helps remove dead skin cells and promotes the production of more collagen in the skin, thus reducing lines and wrinkles
  • Apply aloe vera gel on the crow’s feet and wrinkles. The malic acid in aloe vera helps smoothen out and soften skin
  • Papaya contains the compound papain that is responsible for eliminating skin blemishes and dead skin. Simply mash up half a papaya and mix in a tablespoon of olive oil to make a smooth pack. Apply this face pack to your skin and leave it on to dry for ten minutes before washing off

Avocado is rich in vitamin D and E and helps stimulate the production of collagen in the skin. If you want supple youthful looking skin, mash the pulp of one avocado and apply it to your face every day before sleeping. Keep it on for half an hour before rinsing off. This is a cheap and effective remedy to keep skin moisturized and wrinkle free.
