How to Overcome Nervousness

If you are feeling apprehensive about something but are not able to specify what, are feeling restless, and needlessly worrying about anything and everything, chances are you are suffering from nervousness. The other indicators of this problem are feeling dizzy, tired, muscle ache, stomach ache, irritated, stressed, etc. Nervousness is a psychological state of mind that manifests itself through physical and emotional disorders. Experiencing a certain amount of nervousness if fine, in fact, for some people, it helps them to work more efficiently. It is only when feeling of nervousness becomes excessive, that it becomes a problem. Different people experience nervousness due to different reason. For some it could be due to hormonal changes or disorders, pressure to perform well at work, side-effects of medicines, and relationship issues with spouse or children, for others it could be due to general insecurity about anything and everything. The best way to handle this problem is to find out the exact cause of this feeling. In the meantime, here a few things that you can do to help you calm yourself and overcome your nervousness.

Oranges have a very calming effect on the nerves. Peel an orange and inhale its fragrance. Take one tall glass of orange juice and add 4 teaspoons of honey to it. Add a little bit of nutmeg powder to this mixture and have it everyday. Aromatic oils such as rosemary and primrose are highly beneficial in curing nervousness. You can rub rosemary oil on your forehead or else boil the rosemary herbs in water, let it cool down overnight, and drink that water in the morning. The same can be done with primrose as well. If it is restlessness that plagues you, add a generous amount of celery to your food or salad. To make it even ore effective, add a healthy dose of onions to it. If you are planning a soak in the bath tub, add equal amounts of ginger powder and baking soda to it. This too will help take care of your nervousness. If the physical manifestation of nervousness is shaking hands, drink flavored teas such as chamomile, peppermint, marshmallow, spearmint and peach leaf with two teaspoons of honey mixed in them. Almonds too help in calming your nerves. Soak a fistful of almonds for seven to eight hours in water. Make a paste out of these almonds after peeling off their skin and add one teaspoon nutmeg and half a teaspoon ginger powder. Eat one teaspoon of this paste every night.
