After I have sex it burns but later after shower its stops. What does that mean?

Lack of lubrication, in case of women, is the most common reason for the burning sensation experienced after having sex. Infection in the inner region of the vagina is another common reason. Vaginas, in some cases, have the tendency to self-lubricate. Self lubrication takes place during foreplay or before you have sex.  In cases where the vagina cannot self lubricate, assistance is required for lubrication. Some other reasons that can also be instrumental in causing the burning sensation are thrush, an allergy, trichomonas or vulvodynia. While trichomonas is a sort of vaginal infection vulvodynia causes genital pain. It is advised that you consult your doctor for a check-up to determine the reason for the burning. Other reasons that might lead to a burning sensation are a hormonal disorder, an allergy to sperm, or an allergy to latex. Latex is the material used to make condoms so if you are using condoms as a means of contraception, you can try a different method for a few weeks to make sure that your symptoms are not caused by an allergic reaction to latex.

Burning and itching sensations are not something that can be considered as a normal after-effect of sexual intercourse. They only go to signify that there is something that requires your attention. yeast infection is another prevalent cause for burning and itching. Burning and itching can be accompanied by a thick curd-like white discharge from the vagina and labia swelling. The Labia are the lips that surround the vagina. Genital rash which is an itchy condition could also be a potential cause for the burning. Prostrate glands, in men, can be the breeding ground for parasites such as trichomoniasis protozoa. These parasites could lead to a yellow-green, frothy vaginal discharge that may lead to itching. Vagina inflammation, termed as Vaginitis, can be caused due to sexual intercourse or factors that might misbalance the normal functioning of the vagina. In case you use jelly spermicides or creams, or even contraceptives that need to be inserted into the vagina, they may be the culprits for burning, itching, and irritation in the vagina. Allergies are another common cause for itching in the vagina after sexual intercourse. In case of women, the cause of burning or itching can also be semen allergy.

If you have an infection in the urinary tract or in the genital area you could experience painful intercourse. Another reason for the pain is the improper fitting of the cervical cap or diaphragm. Vestibulitis, commonly known as painful penetration could lead to burning and stinging at the vagina opening. In case you have scars as a result of a vaginal surgery you might experience pain during and after intercourse.
