Symptoms of Ovarian Cancer

The signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer in women are often generalized and often mimic the symptoms of other common illnesses like digestive and bladder problems disorders.

When the symptoms do appear, they tend to persist and worsen with time. Some of these symptoms are:

  • Pain and discomfort in the pelvic area
  • Chronic and persistent indigestion, gas or nausea
  • Abdominal pressure leading to bloating and a feeling of fullness
  • Loss of appetite
  • Increased abdominal girth
  • Changes in bowel and bladder movements, such as constipation and incontinence
  • Persistent feeling of fatigue and a lack of energy
  • Feelings of dullness and listlessness
  • Low back pain
  • Heavy bleeding during menstrual periods or bleeding after menopause
  • In rare cases, a shortness of breath

Most of these symptoms do not necessarily imply a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. Women who exhibit these symptoms should consult their physician who can make a proper diagnosis.
