Prevention from Ovarian Cancer

You cannot prevent ovarian cancer from developing but you definitely can reduce the risk. Some of the steps you can take are:
  • Birth Control Pills: Oral contraceptives may reduce the risk of ovarian cancer but have other associated risks. Consult your physician regarding the best contraceptives in your case.
  • Genetic Testing: If you have a family history of breast and ovarian cancer, your physician may recommend a genetic test. If you do have a genetic mutation that increases the risk of ovarian cancer, your physician may recommend the removal of your ovaries as a preventive measure.
