Sweating and Body Odor

It is not considered a serious problem, but excessive sweating and body odor is now a source of real and depressing embarrassment.

People are more sensitive to the foul odor that is carried along excessive sweating. Nowadays, most people would automatically assume that a person who sweats excessively is also having bad body odor.

Sweating is natural body mechanism. Often, the body reacts to heat in the environment with sweating. The process is the body’s coping mechanism to adjust temperature.

When there is perspiration, there is a greater chance that accumulated bacteria in the body would generate and be active. You know how bacteria work. They almost always cause foul smell similar to rotting.

Some people think that sweating and body odor problems only occur to people who are living at tropical and temperate climate countries. Apparently, it is a wrong notion and belief. Even in cold countries, excessive perspiration is also possible.

Sweating is also a natural body reaction when there is nervousness, stress or anxiety.

Causes of sweating and body odor

The most common cause of excessive sweating with an accompanying body odor is improper or poor personal hygiene. Bacteria can accumulate in the body if the person does not take good care of his skin and body. At times, heredity or genetic factors can be cited.

Eating spicy foods can also boost the chance of sweating and body odor. Hot beverages like coffee and even cold ones like alcoholic drinks also lead to the problem.

Low levels of male testosterone hormones can also be a possible cause. Whatever the culprit can be, it is important to take the preventive measures. Prevention in the case of this problem is also the treatment.

How to prevent and treat excessive sweating and body odor

Here are some ways on how any man could help prevent and skip the incidence of excessive sweating with an accompanying body odor.

  1. Taking a bath regularly. It is advisable to take a bat at least twice a day, one before going outdoors and another before going to bed. Bathing and using right soaps and clean water would help get rid of bacteria that cause body odor when sweating.
  2. Regularly change clothes.

Wear clean and newly laundered clothes. This would help get rid of those bacteria and make the feel of the body cooler to avoid excessive sweating.
  3. Use anti-perspirant products or deodorants. Choose the reliable brand recommended by doctors and friends. Sometimes, it is not advisable to prevent sweat from occurring since it is a natural body occurrence.
  4. Change your diet. If you are into spicy food, why not try to change and convert to the less spicy ones? Avoid indulging in too much alcohol and drinking too much coffee.

Overall, be positive about the situation.

If you have the problem, immediately do something about it. Do not let other people tell it to you in hostile manners. If that happens, you would not just be embarrassed. You would lose self-esteem and would turn shy and depressed about yourself. Too much trouble can occur from such a simple problem like excessive sweating and body odor.
