Children & Gas: Understanding Tummy Woes

When you have a child that complains of a tummy ache or a baby that cries in pain because of gas, you want to find a solution quick. With older children, it is easier to find a solution for the tummy woes than with an infant because they can tell you exactly what the problem is and where it hurts. With babies, doctors often recommend giving the baby a medication with Simethicone, such as Mylanta. This will help baby gas pain right away.

If your child complains of a tummy ache, the first thing you will want to do is to make sure it is not something more serious. Abdominal pain in children can be as mild as gas or as serious as appendicitis. The good news is that children do get gas quite often. Many times, overeating rich foods or the wrong kinds of foods causes gas in children. Antacids and medications like Mylanta is very safe for children. Read the direction carefully to make sure you are giving the right amount of medications. In most cases, if your child is suffering from gas, these medications will take care of the problem fairly quickly.

Infants often get painful gas bubbles from taking bottles. Even if you remove all the air out of the bottles and burp your baby, gas still happens. Gas in infants becomes painful and will cause your baby to cry. There are many parents that will tell you that gas is one of the biggest problems a baby will have. Your baby may need a little help. Many pediatricians recommend Mylanta or a similar product. Have these drops on hand for your baby and you will find that this will almost always tame the tummy troubles right away in an infant.

Make sure that you have the right kind of medication on hand to help your child take care of a gassy tummy right away.
