Most people at some point in their life have been under parasitical attack—literally. Parasites are so abundant in our surroundings that contracting them at some point or another is not rare. To worsen the scenario parasitic infections often go undetected for long time periods or are diagnosed incorrectly since their symptoms often overlap with those of other common ailments.

Parasites come in a range of sizes; from being microscopic to measuring in feet. The latter ones are the main cause of constipation since they block the gastrointestinal passage, leading to difficulty in bowel movements. The only solution to relieving constipation resulting from parasitic infestation is to get rid of the parasites. Dietary modifications along with fiber supplements can bring about temporary relief.

Although conventional medicine provides quick and easy ways to rid ones body of these parasites and relieve constipation, alternative therapies are equally effective and require little effort on one’s part, in addition to the low cost that they come at.

Diet for Constipation Relief

  • Adding roughage or fiber to the diet can help bowel movements and provide visible relief. This can be done by consuming more raw fruits and vegetables with high fiber content. Cauliflower and apples make for excellent choices. In addition fiber supplements such as psyllium husk, citrus pectin, pumpkin seeds and oil, ripe papaya extract, activated charcoal, can also be included in the diet for additional roughage.
  • It is advised to avoid refined flour and fat laden foods such as pastries, pies, and breads among others.
  • Garlic, anise, barberry, goldenseal, and curled mint can be added to ones daily diet as they have anti parasitical properties.

Herbal Therapies for eliminating parasites:

  • A concoction of Neem leaves, turmeric, holy basil leaves, black pepper and ginger can also be consumed once a day, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach for a period of 20 -25 days. This kills the parasites and they are eliminated though the bowels.
  • Pumpkin seeds mashed and mixed with honey and milk offer another effective treatment to eliminate parasites.
  • Savory is an excellent spice and is known for its carminative properties. Its essential oil can be mixed with the pumpkin seed concoction for maximum benefit. Alternatively savory infused teas can be sipped on through out the day.
  • In addition 1-2 spoons of castor oil can be consumed along side to relieve constipation as it is known to induce contractions in the large and small intestine and the colon and provide the necessary lubrication to ease bowel movements.
  • Colon Cleansing:

  • In advanced infections, when home remedies and conventional medicine fail to make a mark, colon therapy guarantees results and is an extremely safe and a fool proof method to eliminate the parasites and relive constipation simultaneously.
