Home remedy for H.pylori

Is there a natural remedy for H. pylori?
(16 Oct 2007)

H.pylori or helicobacter pylori are a type of bacteria that causes peptic ulcers. A peptic ulcer can lead to symptoms such as nausea, bloating and burning in the stomach.

Ulcers usually heal on their own, but in some cases they may rupture and lead to internal bleeding. It is important to see a doctor if you experience symptoms of a peptic ulcer. For further relief you can use the following home remedies.
  • Increasing the alkalinity of the stomach may help to restrict the growth of H.pylori since they thrive in strong gastric acids. Add half a teaspoon of baking soda to one cup of water and drink.
  • Some home remedies aim to increase the acidity levels so that the bacteria cannot survive. To do this, you can add lemon juice to warm water and drink in the mornings. Also have a couple of tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before going to bed at night.
  • Certain foods which are antibacterial in nature may be added to the diet. Such foods include blueberries, grapes and raspberries. These fruits contain ellagic acid which restricts the growth of H.pylori.
  • Bananas and garlic also have antibacterial properties and may be added to the diet.
  • Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant that is beneficial in treating infections. You can take about 5 grams of vitamin C a day to help treat the condition.
  • Juices such as ginger and pineapple juice are known to serve as digestive stimulants and help to promote blood flow to the stomach.
