Medical treatment for dark underarms



Dark Underarms is a problem that has been of vital significance to many teenagers as also with middle aged people. It also restricts your dressing style to a large extent. The reasons for developing dark underarms however are varied. Excessive use of cosmetics or too much shaving and waxing results in irritation of the skin under the arms. This makes the skin lose its color and turn dark.

There are several home remedies that you can use; therefore you need not be very alarmed and unhappy about the condition. Treating dark underarms need not even require a lot of effort on your part. A few home remedies will best serve your purpose and restore the color of your skin. Cut a lemon and rub it gently over the affected area, lemon being a natural skin lightening agent, will help improve the situation. Another remedy for the same is the use of baking soda or alum powder. Dust some of it under your arms and the results will be obvious within just a few weeks. Try and avoid the spraying of deodorants and perfumes under the arms. vitamin E oils are very good for the skin and serve as an excellent remedy. This is available easily over the counter at any pharmacy and can be applied daily instead of using any cosmetic creams or the like.

Applying a paste made from 1teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon cucumber juice and a pinch of turmeric powder would lighten the skin. Apply this paste everyday and let it settle for at least 20min before you rinse it off. Another very effective paste that can be prepared is by using 1 teaspoon of gram flour mixed with 1 teaspoon milk and a pinch of turmeric powder. Keep the paste applied on your under arms until it dries. Rinse it off and follow the same procedure everyday till you are satisfied with the results. A paste made of sandalwood powder and rose water also serves as an effective home remedy.

Remember dark underarms may be also due to fungal infections, if this is the case with you, it is recommended that you visit your doctor and follow the prescribed medication. All said and done, you need to maintain a high level of hygiene so as to fight the infection and prevent its reoccurrence. Wear clothes that are clean, made mostly out of cotton, and are not very tight. Using an anti – fungal powder will also help remedy the situation.
