Good eating hygiene will reduce and eliminate heartburn.  This includes not  drinking within 30 minutes before your meal and 2 hours after the meal.  Chew all your food thoroughly and mix with saliva before swallowing.

Be relaxed and happy before you eat. Eat only enough and not too much. Combine your foods sensibly, preferably eat fruit separately and remember that starches and proteins do not mix well.

Nothing to eat at least 2 hours before bed and a glass of water before sleeping and then again on rising. Together these rules will stop your heartburn but they take a lot of discipline to carry out if they are very different from your existing habits.
